Has anyone ever had a stitch put in the tiny incision after a stereotactic biopsy? Mine was yesterday. My papers say to check for signs of bleeding, but if I even peek at it gently by slightly pulling back the bandage it starts bleeding freshly again. I did call the radiologist last night and he said it was not a big deal, that I should just buy some butterfly bandages to put on and also apply pressure. I would really like this stitched up so I can move on with my activity. I do not have a tight fitting bra, as they suggest wearing.

I had a fair amount of bleeding the night after my biopsy but it stopped by the next day. no stitch needed. I just put some extra steri strips over it and wore a soft sports bra with no underwire.

Thank you Erika37. I just now put extra steri-strips on and bought a sports bra that hooks in the front that is very snug. I feel better.

I had lot of bleeding during and after my stereotactic biopsy. They said if it didn't stop bleeding to go into the ER. I didn't have to do that.

About a week after my biopsy, my breast was black, especially at the bottom of my breast, because the blood had sunk to the bottom of my breast. (My biopsy was at the top of my breast.) It didn't hurt, but looked awful. It took my body several months to completely re-absorb the blood (and thus turn back to its normal color.)

Since I don't have to strip to do my job, it didn't affect me any other way; it just looked bad. After a few months, it returned to normal.

Leaf, I always laugh when I hear we women with breast cancer make the stripper jokes. It helps! Thanks for telling me of your ongoing bleeding.
