Uneven breasts after reconstruction / exchange

I just had my exchange surgery. Everything went well but I noticed that one side of my breast is sitting lower than the other. I am not sure if this is because my skin was over stretched during the expansion process on one side. When I had the expanders in, one side was perfect but the other side tilted up and was poking upwards causing the skin to be stretched more from the bottom pole. Now after the exchange, that same breast is sitting lower. As if the expander caused the skin there to be looser. Has this happened to anyone else and will the skin regain its elasticity or will be like that forever? The expanders are such odd shapes, I was wondering when people get stretched out the wrong way how long does it take to go to normal?

    Hi Sunny,

I found after surgery that each side would periodically change, and not always match up. In the beginning I seemed a little bigger on one side, but both were at the same level. Now, the side that started looking big in the beginning looks smaller than the other and hangs lower. I am likely going to have to go in for a revision though, as I was hit crazy hard on one side and the doc confirmed today it appears that scarring is an issue and will likely need to be removed. Sit tight- it will take at least a couple of months post op to even begin to get a sense of what you will look like. Changes can occur for a while even after that.
