Cactus! Desert beauty!

PositiveS- so glad for the clear colonoscopy. Yay!!!! Loved the jumping in leaves photos. Unbridled joy.
Ksusan- so awful. Both ears at once? Not fair. Sending mojo.
-
Hi - happy Halloween everyone!
Heather, enjoy the water park. My kids love those places so much.
Don't forget to change your clocks tonight. I can't wait to get our hour back! No more excuses for not getting up an exercising. I really wish we didn't have DST. Here is my favorite video on the subject:https://youtu.be/k4EUTMPuvHo
Halloween was very weird this year - as with most things this year. I've had a tradition (carried on from my mom) to make sugar cookies that we decorate as all things Halloween as well as other things too - I'll never forget the year my brother made one into Richard Nixon's face. Anyway, I didn't do them this year. Didn't carve the pumpkins or put the ghouls out in the yard. DD1 is 14, so really didn't think she would be TOT, but she went to a friend's house and they were going out. That left just DD2, and she was not sure if she was even going to go since she didn't have her sister to go with, but last minute we got her costume together, and we went.

Yeah, both ears for me, one for my wife. We're both on amoxicillin. I guess that's romantic?
-
Awww, the couple that shares bugs stays together! So sweet....(ugh, sorry you are under the weather, Ksusan, and your lovely wife too. Hope you feel better soon!) Hope everyone is doing well! Holy moses, what a great trip I had to AZ. Jerome, as advertised, is AMAZING on Halloween. Andrea, you should check it out then. I bet you'd love it! Hiked for like 2 days straight, swam in Oak Creek, heard some amazing desert rockabilly/punk, and felt totally normal, although a little out of shape, compared to my brother. Although, everyone is out of shape compared to my brother, so I don't feel so bad. Also ate some incredible Mexican food. Wish i could take you all with me and have some adventures!
Back at work today, feeling pretty tired because the new puppy has to get up every 3 hours LOl. A coworker, who has apparently been under a rock all summer, asked in front of a group of 5 ladies what my prognosis is. Good God, Woman. Where is your filter????????? I was just like "um...fine?" While mentally imagining bashing her on the head with my coffee cup. It must be Tuesday.
-
I just smile and say, "Well, we're all going to die."
-
I'm with you, ksusan...how are the ears? Not fatal, I hope.
Littleblue, if you decide to bonk the halfwit with your coffee cup, be sure to first tell her that HER prognosis is not looking very good.
I've been swimming every day this week - rad burns are healed and I'm enjoying the water. I'm thinking a nice long bath soak will be on the agenda tomorrow.
My 4th day of aromasin and no side effects. But I don't how long before they kick in.
Sounds like everyone is beginning to settle back into a more normal routine,, with whatever adjustments we have to make. It's been so long since I felt "good" I'm no longer sure what that feels like. But I definitely feel much better.
-
Happy belated Halloween all! Busy being outside the last couple days as much as possible enjoying the beautiful weather here in Northern IL. And also adjusting to the time change. Trying to catch up on everyone's posts I've missed.
Halloween different for me this year too, Lynne. :-( Only put up a couple quick decorations, it was a very nasty day Saturday and we had very few trick or treaters. Bummer but fit my mood.
Speaking of mood. I saw my primary care doctor had her do all the labs and check some vitamin levels. Found out I'm low on Vit B12. This explains the fatigue, low mood, forgetful at times and possible neuropathy that is taking forever to go away on the bottom of my right foot. So I'm giving myself a weekly injection. I hope it gives me a burst of energy. Anyone experiencing the same consider getting vitamin levels checked. I was pleasantly surprised that all my other labs were great and I'm not chemo induced diabetic.
Jen your trip sounds wonderful! Especially the Mexican food! Love the photo!
Susan hope the ears get better. Ouch!
Dizz glad you enjoyed Gurnee and the water park. Been several years but used to take my son there. The Wisconsin Dells has many more if you ever find yourself in WI.
Have a great week all!

anyone else doing Lupron I had 1 today even though I am scheduled for oopherectomy nov 25 same day as implant exchange but holy shit I am sooooore from that damn shot and even worse I go to pick up my exemestane and insurance won't cover it wtf more hoops to jump through
-
stephmoen - I get zoladex (same as Lupron) monthly. It sucks. Trying to decide if I should just get an oophromectomy. What made you decide? I'm premenopausal, but just barely and chemo likely pushed me over the edge anyway.
-
Hey guys-
I know it doesn't specifically pertain to our merry band, but I just wanted to share good news about my friend's mom, who was diagnosed about the same time I was with breast cancer. She was diagnosed at stage 4 HER+ in her bones, and after a terribly long road with Herceptin, Perjeta and Taxotere, is now in remission as of yesterday!!!!!!!!!
-
Littleblue, that is wonderful! And so amazing! My sister has a friend who was stage 4 in her 30's, she had two young children. It looked really bad for her but same thing...she's been in remission now for about 10 years and is doing great! So amazing and inspiring to hear stories like this.
-
Wonderful!
-
littleblue and Andrea I love hearing those stories. Always there is hope and miracles. Live life fully every day. Only our higher power knows the plan and what is next.
-
ksusan - you make me laugh and smile! Hands down, humor is best on this site!
Littleblue- I want to go to ARIZONA, too! WAHHH!!
Steph - I am delaying any Lupron shots...I keep stalling my MO. I am scared of the shots and SEs.
GingerChi - I have to make you come to the Breast Cancer retreat next fall!
It's good to come back to this site...Livestrong has me pushing weights and I am happily wiped out 3x per week!
Otherwise...autumn is magnificent here in New England. I feel like I am in wonder world - surreal. Did I not see this last year, or the year before? Wow. And I did zumba yesterday and it knocked me out. Not ready for zumba yet! My energy levels are not quite back to normal.
Throwing out hugs to y'all!
-
Zumba! Zumba! And my ears seem to be clearing up.
-
Has anyone else noticed that hot flashes clear your sinuses?
-
-
You got that right, sister.
-
I decided on oopherectony right away because I don't want to go in for monthly shots I want to do absolutely everything possible to keep this from coming back and I think my ovaries are pretty shot anyways I also have my little girl and boy so I'm good on kids
my ass feels better today but shoooot that hurt worse than I thought it would and oh yah my insurance is refusing to pay for my aromasin still assholes so I'm still not taking anything which I'm not too happy about
-
I also went to a naturopathic oncologist although I left with a hefty bill and long list if supplements I will be on im excited about taking this step to prevent reccurence I am on a probiotic, fish oil, coq10, magnesium, mushroom extract, turmeric cucurmin vit d,calcium and melatonin I think that's everything!
-
What kind of mushroom extract, Steph?
-
coriolus littleblue she said that is most proven with bReast cancer
-
steph I too am going in for ovary and tube removal. November 10th is the big day. Only 2 days after my 30th birthday.
-
I finally had my consult with an RO this week, and he recommended NO RADS! I'm so relieved!!
I'm 1 month PFC....I've basically faced this ordeal by focusing on one thing at a time. I was in limbo for almost a month waiting for the rads consult....and that was my last hurdle. So now I'm almost in that weird post-treatment place, but then again since I still get Herceptin and am seeing my MO monthly.....not exactly. Can't really describe how I feel, but I agree that more focus should be placed on post-treatment recovery. I'm not aware of anything in this area, but am going to research it.
I've been on Arimidex for a month now, I haven't had major SE that I am aware of. Its hard to know whats after effects of treatment or whats due to the new drug. I can thank the AI for the hot flashes, HOLY COW! I've had them before, but nothing like this. I have several a day, plus I wake up 2-3 times a night soaking wet and feeling like I will self combust at any second. Hopefully these settle down soon!
Lynne, I totally get how you are feeling about the neuropathy...initially it improved for me after Taxol, but hasn't much since. My feet feel like they are asleep all the time, which makes walking and staying active a chore. I need to be more active, but its so hard to do. Mine are better in the mornings, and get worse as the day goes on...and it totally ticks me off! I wish now I hadn't pressed on with Taxol....I didn't realize it at the time, but the steroids were helping the PE, so the majority of the week, it felt almost normal. I'm taking B6.... and hope it doesn't lead to needing rx drugs for this.
Addie, Happy Birthday tomorrow!!! Wishing you a wonderful day! Prayers coming your way for a smooth surgery and recovery!
LIttleblue, Your trip to AZ sounds great, good for you!!!
Positive, YAY for the clear colonoscopy! Love the pics of your kids in the leaves, looks like they're having a ball!! And the retreat next fall sounds wonderful....I'd love to do it, and hope it works out that I can!
Andrea, your granddaughter is adorable!! Glad you have the date set for your surgery, hope and pray all goes well!!
Renee, I know you were worried about the diabetes.....so glad that checked out ok!
Dizz, how are you feeling? Hope you're settled in at home and recouping well!!
Ksusan, hope you're feeling better by now, ear infections are no fun whatsoever!
I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend! Its rainy and gloomy here in the south, and has been all week. I'm ready for some sun!
-
Steph, Thanks for posting the info from your naturopath.
Addie, Happy Birthday! I used to hate getting old. Now I realize what a privilege it is
Positive, glad you're enjoying the Livestrong program.
I've been working CRAZY hours... Over 60 hours per week the last 2 weeks. Sorry I am waaaay behind! I did run a 5k this morning and was really, really hoping to beat 30 minutes. I finished in 28:53. I am sooooo totally excited!!!!!!
Next weekend I head to Vegas to meet up with some ladies from my Sept 3013 chemo gang. A couple of us are going to run the Rock & Roll half marathon. Not sure if anyone lives near Vegas, but if you do, meet up with us!!!! Before that, I have a busy week of appointment: survivorship appointment, rads follow up and urology appointment. Fun, fun, fun!!!!!!!
-
thanks Steph for your response. Not looking forward to another surgery, but monthly injections don't sound good either! Thanks too for the list of supplements, I'm on all those too except for the mushroom extract and Q10.
Anyone else have chemo induced foot pain. Not numbness, but just really bad plantar fasciitis type pain
-
GingerChi - Gabapentin really reduced my neuropathy and helps with sleep and hot flashes. I take 900 mg at bedtime.
-
Hi - Thursday morning I had my evaluation with the STAR (Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation) certified PT. She said that there's not much that they can do about my neuropathy - it's something that is very individual and resolves on its own (or not) and can take up to a year, but she said that they can and will work on my feet and the rest of my body's stiff and achiness. She did a bunch of evaluative tests on my current strength, we'll finish at my next session with tests on the treadmill and balance work and tests for my stamina. I think it will be good for me to have something to focus on.
I return to work full time and in person on Monday. I'm a little nervous, but excited too. I am glad to get back into a normal routine, even though I know it will be tiring at first, and life will be crazier than ever. This week I instituted a cleaning calendar with the family. I asked them all for their help and participation with the daily chores, and let them know that they may also be required to help with the weekly, monthly, and yearly chores too. Now to keep up with it . . .
Cherie, so glad that you don't have to do rads! I think I mentioned that I was given a book - "After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better, Stronger" by Julie K. Silver, M.D. from my RO. The author had BC. I haven't even looked at it yet, but I'm sure it has some wisdom to share. My plan is to just get on with life and try to not think about BC as much as just getting healthy.
KB - congrats on exceeding your goal. You are amazing. Have fun in LV - I've never been, but I've heard that it's a blast, and I'm sure the weather is nice.
Although, can't complain about our weather with temps in the 70s this past week. I'll take it!
Lynne
