Question about cold caps....

I know this has probably been asked before, but I honestly don't have the energy to search a zillion topics. I am going to have to do chemo and radiation, thanks to a tumor that everyone thought was two small ones, but was actually one monster with two lobes. Yay me!

Anyway, I know the original cold caps come from England and are horrifically expensive. Way out of this teacher's salary range. Has anyone tried a substitute, or tried to create their own? I now have shoulder length grey hair...with a mind of its own. I'd prefer not to have to regrow it again, I've spent the last two years doing just that!

I'd appreciate any and all help. Thanks!

Right mastectomy 2/26/15. Pathology Upgraded today to Stage 2A, grade 2. Bilobed mass 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm x 0.5 cm ARGH!
