Fat necrosis lumps
Anyone out there having issues with fat necrosis lumps? I am. Going in for screening soon. Would love to hear from others.

I did have them on one of my followups, all was fine but it did scare the heck out of me. BS did a biopsy and nothing found
-
thanks, I've insisted on biopsy. In Switzerland, they tend to do MRIs but its hell to get a biopsy out of them!

Yep. Just had a fat necrosis lump found 5 years out. Apparently, it can happen even years after initial diagnosis. It showed up as a suspicious change on my mammo, then a confirmed lump by sonogram, then I had a core biopsy. Results negative. I was told after the fact that these lumps are fairly common, but there is no way to tell for sure without a biopsy.

Thanks Lindissima,
I will PUSH hard for a biopsy. They put too much faith in MRIs here! The lumps are on my breast tissue post-reduction scar line so im guessing it's also fat necrosis and scar tissue but would like to be sure.

Hi AlicKi,
I had a lump thing removed following about two weeks ago and it has been sent for biopsy. It was on my new scar following a DIEP procedure, That area was covered until last Friday when the nurse removed the dressing. I was a bit surprised to feel the 'removed' lump is still there and indeed there is now another beside it.
In fact the whole area of the scar going towards the cleavage feels quite lumpy. When my PS saw the lump he was not at all concerned, but he said let's do a biopsy for peace of mind. The NHS in Britain can run very slowly at times and I do not get the results until mid April
Knowing what I know now about bc I would always want such lumps removed and biopsied

hello,
Thanks! It never stops, does it? You get rid of one and another pops up. I know the NHS can be slow but mid-April is ghastly! When you say "knowing what I know now", did your cancer lumps get missed first time round?
I have an MRI next Monday. I live in Switzerland, a place they love imaging but its hell to get them to biopsy anything! Will push!

Alicki,
I have always had problems with lumps and dense breast tissue. Some years ago before my dx, a surgeon 'did not like the look of my right breast'. I had U/S biopsy and mammo. I firmly believe that the tumour was present then. It was just missed. I had an lymph node under my arm that was enlarged too. This was never investigated. Six years later, I have a massive tumour.
There was 'something; about that breast he was not happy with. Knowing what I know now I wish I had sought a second opinion, and had an MRI - something they don't do readily in Britain because of the expense.
There looks now to be 3 distinct lumps to me on this recon breast.
Have you a recon or your own breast? Do you have lots of lumps too?
Feeling anxious.

Hello,
I had a breast reduction following inflammation problems...and the PS made a mess of my right breast. There's loads of fat necrosis there, but it's formed hard and fixed lumps in two areas.
I have a MRI fixed for next Monday, results on Wednesday and then I'll push for the biopsy.
Probably nothing but I really don't want to end up with a massive tumor because something was missed. We can't prevent Breast cancer, but we can catch it early and I've learnt from experience that you have to advocate for yourself!

I had 3 lumpies and who remembers how many biopsies so maybe that is why they spied the fat necrosis? then again, it was done at a dif branch of the rad center so I figure it was a dif set of eyes who were trying to find something their other guys had missed
-
did you find out what it was? I have one on my right upper side by my ribs. They only did a Ultersound but I still feel unsure about it because it itches a lot at time's. My grandma had breast cancer (dad side) she died when he was 13. I know anyone can get both but I just fill like the fat necrosis isn't that. I never had anything done to my beast and never got hurt there so I wonder what can it be should I just be fine with what they told me it was? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions just want to know. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I know 1 out of 3 weman get beast cancer and I have 4 sister's so with me that's 5 so what's the odds of it just really being the fat necrosis???
