Options

had my double mx. the end of Oct.no chemo or radiation/ on Femora with no side effects. felt good emotionally the first couple of months. last seversl weeks feeling down. several family things going on and having trouble dealing with them plus my mx. due to have exchange in April 8th. Is this normal, does it take awhile to get over the emotional part of the cancer diagnosis and mx?

happilyretired-I didn't have the mx so I can't speak to that. But I can weigh in on the anxiety/emotions. I had my lumpie, rads and started Tamoxifen and things were really pretty good. Then I got a call from my breast center wanting me to come in for a 6 month check-up, and the roller coaster started all over again. I have regular visits with my RO and my MO and things have been fine, but for some reason this check-up next week has me twitchy.

It took me until the exchange (5 mo) to turn the corner and by nine months out I was much better. I had a really tough time emotionally. My PCP helped me sort things out. He basically ordered me to stay on anti anxiety meds for a year. PTSD-like symptoms are very common for us, especially after active treatment is finished. Hang in there time will help a lot.
