Hair Regrowth post chemo on Femara

I had my last chemo 10/10/14 and began Femara 10/27/14 and 4 months my hair is very thin and short. The little that I have has a slight "male pattern baldness" look to it slightly "thicker" everywhere but on top. I understand that hair loss is a side effect from Femara so I can only guess that regrowth is one too. I know it is part of the estrogen depletion, but estrogen dependent "hair elsewhere" has come back almost to normal thickness.

Anyone else have this experience? Could it just be slow or is this something I need to accept?

Kate - you need to go to sleep you wrote this at 2:30am. I have been on Femara for 6 months. After finishing my chemo, Herceptin and radiaton my hair grew back thick and curly. Never had curls before. Yes it is true that all 3 of these meds make you hair fall out but what is the alternative.

I guess we just have to live with this depressing fact as it is better than a re-occurance of BC. One thing you can try is Joico Foam - it makes my hair look 5x thicker and it's easy to use. You can obtain it on the internet and it's only abt $11.00. Wonder foam!

    kateink.

I have had chemo too and Femara, for around two and a half years. following chemo, I was worried about the top coming in as it was slower than the rest of the growth.

My hair like yours in much thinner on top than the sides or the back. I am certain this is the Femara. My hair used to be uncontrollable, and very very thick. I cannot believe when I run my hands through it just how thin it is.

I have no underarm hair and no pubic hair either, I am assuming this is all down to Femara.

I hope when I get off it things might improve, unless as current thinking ten years is better than five,
