2015 Oregon Breast Cancer Issues Conference

For those in Oregon, take a look at this upcoming conference (March 21st). It's held in Portland but simulcast to several locations around the state. Per the organizers, survivors, high risk groups, the interested public and family members are welcome as well as medical professionals.

I'm not a huge fan on Komen but may attend to hear some of the seminars. (My MO is speaking at one of them.)

Let's see, maybe this data is wrong but the Susan G. Koman Foundation's CEO Nancy Brinker makes $ 684,000 annually. It spends 70% on administration and 18% on research. Some say it is a "cancer awareness" scam type organization.

My wife has triple negative metaplastic cancer and estrogen pos breast cancer. She is currently being treated with A/C for both types. Barf type sick all of the time.

Mike, I'm very sorry about your wife. I did indicate that I am NOT a big fan of the sponsoring organization. However, some of the seminars MAY be of interest to members of this board.

Nooooooo Hopeful8201. Not offensive. I just added a bit of info. Maybe with a bit of criticism S.G.Korman might change their direction. Recently saw an ad about a hospital they support. Keep posting all this good stuff, new trials, treatments, etc. I feel some big changes to BC are just around the corner.

Dear Mike - Thanks so much for your clarification. I agree with you entirely about SGK, although I'm not perhaps as optimistic that they are interested in/capable of changing. And I think it would be awfully nice if they admitted cancer pts. free of charge to such events.

I hope you're right that big changes are coming soon, and I hope some positive changes are coming for your wife. I know this is rugged for both of you.
