Has someone else in your family been diagnosed? Share with us!
Hello to our wonderful community!
We are working on our next Acknowledging Our Community Members feature and are hoping you can help.
We are looking to feature members who also share a breast cancer diagnosis -- not necessarily the same diagnosis -- with another member of their family (sister, mother, daughter, cousin, aunt, grandmother, etc.) and how the sharing of that diagnosis has impacted your life -- any pleasant surprises? Lessons learned? Inspiration received? Tell us your story to help inspire others.
If you'd like to share your story, please send us a PM or email us at community@breastcancer.org, and include a picture of either yourself or something that represents you to include with your story.
Thank you so much for considering to participate! Your story will help inspire and and bring hope to many others!

Teri-- we'd love if you could please write a few paragraphs about how sharing a breast cancer diagnosis with your grandmother and aunt has affected you -- were you able to share a special moment/bond with them related to this common diagnosis? Any lessons learned or insight gained? We'd love to hear it all -- please PM us your story. Also if you have a picture of the three of you or something that represents your story, we'd like to feature that with your story. Thank you!

Hi Mod, we are now three sisters with breast cancer. One of my sisters had it first time in 2002, was stage 1, mucinous, she underwent lumpectomy and radiation, no chemo. I was pretty young at that time, never thought I could get it. She again had two different primary in the other breast in 2014 this time IDC and DCIS, stage one as she had been super vigilant. this time too lumpectomy with radiation and no chemo. I was diagnosed in Feb 2015, stage three underwent neoadjuvant, bmx and radiation. I was sill undergoing radiation when another sister got diagnosis of breast cancer only after 7 months of clear mammogram. she is now having chemotherapy, the only difference is she is her positive. she was the one who was taking care of me in the last month.Strange life

My Mom's two sisters, my aunts, were diagnosed with BC in their seventies. They both had lumpectomies with no additional treatment and lived to their late eighties and died of other causes. My first cousin was diagnosed with TN BC at 55, she had uni-mx and radiation, with months of chemo. She was declared NED and started on Tamoxifen. She was complaining of bad SE's with it and had a stroke which she passed away from at age 56. The one common denominator that my cousin and I had was we were both on HRT for many years, always wonder if that was a contributor for our BC.
