Had my biopsy on Thursday. I have the normal swelling and bruising as to be expected but now I have nipple changes, is that normal? The areola is red now and the middle part of the nipple (tip area i guess) is even more red and looks raw/angry. Feels sensitive and uncomfortable. The biopsies were on the outer part of my breast. To be expected?

I don't know - that sounds as though there could be some infection. Please call your clinic or nurse navigator first thing in the a.m. I wouldn't want to mess around waiting to see if it goes away.

I've had my share of issues with biopsies (and more) but that doesn't sound normal.

Ok thank you. Should I put hydrocortisone on it perhaps to see if it helps?

If it is an infection, you will need antibiotics, so please go and see your Doctor for their expert opinion and possibly a script. It is better to show a medical professional the symptoms now that describe them later.

    All the best

Sounds like an infection. I had my core biopsy on Feb 17. On Feb 26 I noticed increased soreness, swelling and noticed a angry red circle around the incision. The doctor confirmed an infection and a 10 day treatment of antibiotics. It does happen.

Ok well thank you guys. I will call in the am and hopefully some antibiotics will clear it up. It sure is uncomfortable.

Of course when I got there the symptoms had died down quite a bit so the dr didnt think there is an infection. He gave me some aquafor and called it a day. Hopefully it helps.
