Scarring or recurrence?

Options

I had a lumpectomy and reconstruction/bilateral lift 8 months ago, followed by radiation, tamoxifen. This week I noticed a spot of redness about the size of a quarter near the tumor bed site. There is a non-painful bump in there that has me worried. When I move the skin around a dimple forms. I have a checkup in 12 days, but I am terrified that this could be a recurrence. My logical side tells me it may just be a scar tissue thing, but the fear is there. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

No,Jodigirl, sorry, and welcome. If you are really worried though, you can call them, and they could possibly get you in earlier. I know that about a year later, I developed a red spot about the size of a nickel. None of the docs who have seen it are in the least bit concerned, and it is still there. You could draw on the edges of it with a pen, and if it goes outside the line you drew, then I would call your doctor more quickly, because it could be an infection.
