Can anyone comment on specific experiences with the doctors including the BS and the PS's at NOLA? I can't find much about the BS.

You might want to confirm this with more current patients, but when I went there about 6 years ago, there was a Breast Surgeon on Dr Sullivan's team of plastic surgeons, and she did the mastectomy and was excellent and also very kind, and I love that she did not use steri strips since I am allergic like many people. I didn't see her name on the website when I just checked, but I am sure these doctors wouldn't work with any breast surgeon who wasn't exceptional, however I travelled there for the team of plastic surgeons since there are good breast surgeons in Boston but at the time there was no team of plastic surgeons in Boston who could do what the team at NOLA does. I was amazed that everyone who worked there was so top-notch, and if I heard correctly, that is because the doctors own the hospital and choose only the very best people to work there - including the outstanding nurses and even an outstanding chef. Also because of their experience, since they have done way more procedures than most.

Thanks, Holly. I easily find stuff about the PS's but not anything about the BS. His name is Alan Stolier.

Dr Stolier did my mastectomies last year and he is great!! He is an expert at what he does and breast surgery is all he does. He has a great bedside manner and did come to do post op visits. He does his stuff and then the PS come in and do their magic. I think you will be very pleased with their work!! The center is amazing!!

Dr. Stolier was my bs at NOLA. (My NOLA surgery was about 3 years ago.) I had a nipple sparing mastectomy after a previous reduction. (Reduction was done in Maryland for "symmetry" after a problematic DIEP surgery which also done in Maryland) Dr. Stolier did a great job. I felt he was both personable and unassuming. He spent a lot of time with me both before surgery answering my questions and also during multiple post op visits.

I had had a consult with a microvascular ps at a large DC medical center about the possibility of ns after a reduction. The DC guy told me it wasn't possible- the nipple would surely die. Dr. Stolier did ns without a problem (I was told that NOLA was generally able to do this.) As Gramof2boys said Dr. Stolier is an expert at what he does. Dr. Stolier has published a lot in peer reviewed medical journals. Put his name "Alan J. Stolier" into a pubmed search...

Besa: Thanks so much for posting that link! My husband has been giving me grief about 'going to a place I found on the internet' so I am trying to convince him. That is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I need.

I should just say, if my husband wants VETTING, he is going to get VETTING. (I might even send him so much stuff, he will be sorry he asked. :)
