Feeling Nervous

I'm having a double mastectomy with direct to implant reconstruction on March 4th. I'm getting pretty nervous over it. I had neoadjuvent care with 6 rounds of chemo I was very strong through. My EKG just came back saying I had a myocardial infarction at some point, so I'm about to go for a stress echo, although no one seems concerned about it not sure why.

This surgery is throwing me for a loop...or maybe its the part that I'm almost cancer free. I'm not sure but I've had high anxiety lately....hitting me like a ton of bricks. Any advice or experience that anyone can offer me? This is done all the time, I'm not sure why i'm so nervous about it!

    Hi CobIndie,

I also had neoadjuvant care. 4 rounds of A/C, 3 of Taxol (didn't have the 4th because it was not working) and 25 radiation treatments before my surgery on February 5th. My anxiety came from the discovery (almost by accident) of high blood sugar, and the possibility of the surgery being delayed! I was freaking out. I went into a super strict diet, medication and glucose measuring 4 times a day (don't miss that many pricks). I was in a zone! I needed the cancer out of me.

Try to concentrate on something else and put your energy and/or faith on the positive result of the surgery. You will be cancer free soon! I know it's not easy and I hope you have strong support from family and friends. I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Godspeed!
