Feeling very scared and now 5 months pregnant.

Few months back, I noticed my hair follicles has enlarged all over in both breasts. I thought it was normal due to my pregnancy.

2 weeks back my breasts grew itchy and red. Not sure if it was due to a lotion I have applied once. I have stopped applying then. But my breasts are still red and itchy.

If I squeezed my breasts gently, it really look like orange peel.

I am so scared after reading about IBC.

And I do have stabbing pains on the breasts for the past few days.

Does the pic look like IBC?

I was only given a cream to see if the redness go away.

I was told to return back to clinic on fri day if it still persists. I am so worried as I am also 5 months pregnant.

is it both breasts? I do not have Ibc but I read this board here and there as I had a scare with it as well. I also am pregnant with larger hair follicules and redness. Went to two breast specialists both say not IBC just pregnancy. I hope that's all it is for you as well. I've read other pregnant moms having this too. Supposedly it goes away after childbirth and breastfeeding. One key is it spreading and skin hardening from what I understood.

No one here can tell you what is going on - we are not medical personnel. Only medical personnel can DX you and tests may be needed for them to get an accurate DX.

It is highly unlikely that you are dealing with IBC (or any type of BC) but anything is possible so you do need to pursue answers.

IBC is rare - only between 1% - 5% of all diagnosed types of BC. It is aggressive and rapid once presented. If everyone who comes here deciding that their skin issue is IBC were, it would not be rare at all but VERY common, which it isn't.

As said IBC is aggressive and rapid - it can literally present overnight and then progresses rapidly. It can present initially in different ways - not always as a 'rash/redness' to begin with.

In my case, I never had any 'redness/rash'. It first showed by a node under arm that was not enlarged at all one night but the next night it was the size of an almond. Saw my PA a week later (she was on vacation and I didn't want to see someone else). It had continued to enlarge during that week. She sent me for a new mammo that afternoon which turned into also an US and biopsies immediately. At 8 the next morning (Fri) the Radiologist called me with the path report - IBC. The following Mon I saw my Surgeon, Wed saw Rads Dr, Thurs saw Chemo Dr. I started neoadjuvant (pre surgery) A/C 17 days after DX. In those 17 days, I did developed the breast enlarged, nipple inverted, peau d'orange and node continued to enlarge. I never developed any 'redness' , pain, itchiness that some do. Some have an even shorter timeframe from DX to TX than I did. I only say this to show you that there is no 'One Size Fits All' - we are each unique, even with 'us' who are IBC.

Find out what is going on but stay away from that 'QUACK DR GOOGLE'.

Since it is in both breasts, it's less likely to be IBC, but do have it checked out. Most likely it's an infection or allergy.

please have it thoroughly checked out. I can't say it's not IBC, but the odds are that's it isn't. I know this is a scary, terrible time for you. My thoughts are with you -- keep us posted, OK?
