Skin mets anyone?
Hello,
I was wondering if any of you have skin mets and how are/were they treated? My mom has stage 4 IBC with bone/skin mets (dx: march 13- grade 2-er/pr +Her 2 - ) skin mets are growing rapidly on current treatment (halaven). Her MO at MSKCC has her sheduled for scans this week. So far she has been on Taxol, Gemzar and now Halaven. Her MO says the mets look better but new ones keep popping up and she isn't concerned (???????) Well we are!!! Also said tumor markers dropped (which has my mom and family on the fence about because growth of skin mets is worrisome regardless of tm's dropping).
If any of you can share your experiences with this, it would be so appreciated!
Thank you!
Lindsey

Bon,
Thanks for responding! This is my mom's second MO at Memorial Sloan and prior to switch (closer campus near CT) other MO never seemed concerned with skin. The first one would say they aren't life threatening like visceral disease.
New MO who has reputation for being no bs and very forward says skin mets look good and treatment appears to be working on them (they change colors - start off redish and with treatment turn darker purple and some fade out). It is just crazy seeing how new ones keep popping up. My mom also sees a derm at MSKCC who also isnt worried and says he has seen a lot worse and a lot of people with skin mets. I just want them gone!! This disease sucks!!!

Bon,
I spoke to my parents about getting an opinion from Dr.Cristofanalli. They are all for it, we just need to figure out a good time. It is only a 3 hour ride so it is doable My dad just had surgery to have a colorectal tumor removed and will be undegoimg chemo in the next few months.
Thank you for all of your input.

Hi Tnbclady. Just joined today and saw your post about skin mets. I recently was diagnosed with local recurrence of IBC with triple negative mutation from previous tumor. Wanted to know how was your skin mets diagnosed since I am wondering if I have it. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
