Trying to stay positive! I have an extensive history of breast issues having extremely dense fibrocystic breasts with multiple large cysts and have had numerous cyst aspirations and 2 core biopsies in the past.

I am diligent about monitoring my breasts because of my high risk status related to both grandmothers having breast cancer. Last MRI in August 2014 was normal, birads 2. Early this month I underwent my routine mammogram and ultrasound. After additional magnification views of my left breast the radiologist detected 2 clusters of punctate microcalcifications. On Feb.16th I had a stereotactic core biopsy with clip placement of the largest cluster which was less than 5 mm. The plan was to get the results and determine if the other cluster required a biopsy.

I received the results over the phone this morning from the radiologist who said the results were not cancer but showed atypical cells. He would like me to see a surgeon for an excision of the area, but first he would like to do another stereotactic core of the other cluster. Of course my concern is that the other cluster may actually be cancerous. I am overwhelmed, anybody with similar results.
