Nipple and areola reconstrucion after the radiation

Hi!

I have expanders in place and currently undergoing radiation treatment. I will have my exchange in 5 months after the end of radiation.

I wonder when usually nipple recon takes place? I am seeing my PS in three weeks and I will surely ask his opinion, but I'd like to know what's to expect. My neighbor had to wait two years for her nipple reconstruction, she was irradiated as well...

I hope that its not mainstream to wait for so long.

    Mine wanted to wait a minimum of a few months post-exchange.  Primarily because he wanted to wait and see how the exchange settled out so if any additional reconstruction work was necessary it could be done at the same time as the nipple reconstruction.
