I had a pbmx in April 2014 (after BC with lumpectomy, chemo and rads in 2005) with TEs then silicone implants. Had an infection (redness and fever) that landed me in the hospital for a week on IV antibiotics. One implant was removed and the pocket drained and implant replaced.

After discharge from hospital I was placed on oral antibiotics for another week, but still have some redness.

Due to the infection and possibility of it coming back, PS has recommended DIEP.

I really wanted to avoid another major surgery and having an additional area of my body scarred up.

Does anyone have any info on MGH doctors that perform DIEP after implant failure? and has anyone who had implants after radiation able to keep them?

I'm looking for a second opinion and value your recommendations.

Dr Liao at MGH does the DIEP procedure after implant failure. He is a very good PS....I would recommend him.
