edited February 2015 in Pain

Quick outline - I had breast cancer stage 2B...diagnosed last year in March.  Surgery in April, chemo May - Sept and radiation Oct - Dec.

For the last couple of months I am having severe arm pain at night.  I can describe it as pins and needles that  start around my bicep area and shooting pain down my arm to my fingers/thumb.  It wakes me up several times a night.    I am not laying on the arm ; however, when I lay down is when it starts.   The only way I can make the pain go away is to stand up....as strange as that sounds.

I pointed it out to my radiation oncologist and he said it would be something to discuss with my family doctor.  I mentioned it to my family doctor and he said because it's only one arm there's nothing to worry about.

Now, I have never been, and do not want to become....one of those people who thinks they have things wrong with them; however, this is causing me some worry that it could be cancer-related.  I don't think it's lymphedemia ...because as I mentioned above, it's only in one arm.

What I should add to this is that my opposite breast is now under investigation.  Biopsy came up negative but the surgeon said I have atypical lobular hyperplasia....and they are concerned with some cell changes in the area between my cysts.     Because this is on the same side as the arm pain, I'm wondering if it could be a sign of something worse; but I do not want to mention this to the doctors since both already said it was nothing to worry about.  (I've also had some minor ongoing pain in my upper jugular are on the same side )
