Path report help. Scared and young

hello again everyone.
So I met with my oncologist yesterday. And even though since it's an early stage cancer because I am HER2+ I need chemo as well. Like you all previously mentioned. So I'm leaning toward a mastectomy because then it not only decreases my recurrence rate but also my worries. I feel strong today though. I will fight this. And come out on top. Because I am so young the doctor was not worried at all with the fact if I would be able to have children someday. Which was very reassuring. I know this process is far from over but now I actually know what's going on and know the treatment that I have to take him because of all of YOU I know I will be ok. Over the next two weeks I have to take some blood work and scans the normal procedures which I'm sure you all are aware of. The next big decision it looks like I have to face is what kind of reconstruction to have. At the current moment I'm kind of leaning towards the implants. But one day at a time right

having a bit of a freak out moment.... I don't want to die. Do my chances look ok ? It seems we caught it early. After a double mastectomy and chemo and herceptin will I most likely be in remission

Ashley, not fair, so sorry......!
The anxiety, angst, panic feelings are sadly part of this shitty nightmare. I was tough as nails for the first 6 months ( surgery & chemo ) during radiation I feel apart.
I should of gotten on a anti- depressant & anxiety meds the day I was dx. I was not depressed, I was scared. I did not realize then how difficult it is for our bodies to process what was going on. Not explainly this well, but ,this is a temporary situation. My personal Dr. Put me on Zoloft & lorazepam. She knows me outside of being my Dr. She said I will taper off the Zoloft this summer.
No one thinks this is easy. Being selfish now is necessary. I had a lumpectomy, easy compared to mastectomy & reconstruction. Keep posting, we "get it".

I don't know if it applies here but I am thinking about it because I know another person who was young at diagnosis with no children yet. The doctor said she should freeze her eggs. I don't know if chemo has an impact on eggs or if you will be doing any kind of hormone therapy but I think it is a question worth asking about. Hugs to you, Ashley.

some good news and a small victory !
Got all the results from my scans back and I'm all clear. It hasnt spread anywhere !!!!!
I also have made a surgery decision. Based on my age and what the doctor had educated me with I am going to have a double mastectomy with implant reconstruction. And follow up chemo and my doctor said because im so young I should be able to have kids no problem when this process of over
Today was a good day. A blessed day. A strong day.
