Bilateral Surgical Excision 2/6/15

Hi everyone.

On 1/13 I went to my Dr having found a lump on my left breast. I went for a mamo and sono on 1/15. After 5 hours of repeated mamos and a 2.5 hour sono I was told I needed core needle biopsies on both breasts!!

Had the biopsies on 1/22 and while results were benign I was told results do not match what is seen on film. Path report states highly suggestive of malignancy.

I met with a surgeon on 1/28 and am scheduled for bilateral surgical excision in a hospital next Friday 2/6. Needless to say I'm terrified. Surgeon said the same things every other surgeon seems to say, 80% benign yada yada. I feel like I'm watching a movie and know all the lines.

My question is from experience will my recovery from biopsy surgery take a little longer since I'm having both breasts done? I know everyone is different just want some idea of what I'm facing regarding pain and recovery. Both masses are large and at the side of my breasts extending to the nipple area. Dr said she will make side incisions.

Thank you and bless you all.

Hi, You have been very diligent in taking care of your breasts. I have had quite a few surgeries (for biopsies) and I always felt an overhwleming sense of relief that whatever it was is now gone. I definitely felt sore and tender whenever it involved an area near my nipple. I took Advil prior to feeling any pain every 4 hrs when awake for a day or two. I can say that many and I mean many of my biopsies turned out to be benign breast issues. I'm glad that they have you scheduled right away because I always found the waiting to be the hardest.I was surprised that the incision marks were a little larger than my normal non surgical biopsieI really liked using vitamin E creams and bio oil to minimize the scarring when healed (please do not use when an open wound). I am hoping you get good results and I will be thinking of you.
