I am filled to 210 cc's & have to get to 450 cc's. My question is this......did you go bigger or stay the same size you were? Or did you go smaller? My dr & the nurses all keep joking with me saying that the dr put me in for a large C & I was only a smaller B. At first I could have cared less about size but now I am thinking it will be too big. Curious to know what others did?

I was big (DD+), so I got a much-needed reduction. I am now about a C cup, and of course no sagging anymore! It was the only good thing to come out of this diagnosis.

What do you want? You know better than anyone about the size that you find comfortable, attractive etc. I was very happy with my natural breast size as I felt it fit my body type. So, I asked my ps to make my implants as much like my natural breasts as possible. Again, you really need to explore what you will be most comfortable with, not what others have done. Good luck to you

I had told my ps that I wanted similar to what I had & he ended up adding a size. I just am not sure what to do & was curious as to what others are happy with (or unhappy) with that they did?

Why did he add a size if that's not what you wanted?

I have mentioned to two nurses that I really wanted to stay the same size that I was & they keep trying to make me feel better by saying he gave me a 450 which will give me a full c. I am going to definitely tell him that I just don't want to fill it the entire way because I don't want that big of a size. The nurses are all trying to be helpful and tell me "ahhhh get something out of this" but the more I think about it, I know I won't be comfy with that. I know it's up to me but they make it sound like most women want to go bigger

From this I understand you are talking about your TEs? Final implants will look smaller than TEs in general. Less projection, etc. The only purpose of the TE is to prepare the pocket and tissues for the implant and they are chosen based on your own particular anatomy (chest width measurements, etc). A 450cc filled TE will look much bigger than a 450cc implant. It aslo does not mean it will get filled all the way. You can't go by what the TE is necessarily, as different PSs under fill , fill to capacity, overfill, etc. Many women are surprised by how much "smaller" they look after exhange even if their implants are the same size or bigger than their TE fill.

Also, go to Breast Implant Sizing 101 (read the header carefully) being aware we do not talk cup sizes there as most people are, respectfully, totally off about proper bra sizing and cup sizing, and it is not a helpful measurement especially when it comes to reconstructed breasts. For example I was a 30E before surgery, have 435cc implants and remain a 30E. If I had a larger ribcage (mine is 29") and the same size implant, I would be more like a B or C. So an "E" on me is not really big at all and looks very proportional on me and I am a petite, slender/physically fit and active woman. I am the same size as I was before, but honestly these "look" and feel smaller due to their shape and having a little less projection as is typical for implant recon.

Communicate with your PS what you want. Don't worry about what the nurses think you should do.

I did not have TE's (I had one step implants)so am not familiar with the fill process, however, I have read that TE's are sometimes overfilled but the final implants are smaller. Hopefully, someone with more expertise on this will come along to weigh in. Bottom line, however, is that regardless of what "most women" do, you need to be adamant about what you want!

Just because you have a 450cc expander does not mean that it must be filled to that volume.  Your expander was chosen based more on your chest dimensions - width and height - rather than "cup" size.  Remember that implants do not usually appear as large as the expanded TE - so if you are happy with how you look at whatever volume you have been expanded to, you will look smaller after exchange with an implant of the same cc volume.  I would encourage you to go to the Breast Implant 101 thread and supply your info to whippetmom (as asked for in the header) to see what she recommends for you.
