MRI?

I survived my second MRI with 3x my occasional Xanex dose to sleep and now waiting for results. What will they tell me from this test?

Also, I am premenopausal and they told me I should have this test 4-10 days into my cycle. But that was like 2-3 weeks away and the doctor never mentioned it. Did I make a mistake by having it anyway? My cancer is positive for estrogen and progesterone.

My surgeon ordered an MRI prior to surgery so she could see what she was dealing with--- she wanted to make sure that the lump on one breast was all we needed to deal with (and it was) so the MRI showed clear on the other breast--and MRI technology is more sensitive than mammograms....

Not sure about the cycle questions--others may have an answer

Hi, Sorry to hear that your were diagnosed. I hope you have a good suport team and medical doctors that you really like.

In regards to taking these tests around your cycle, it is true. I have had a long history of breast issues and my breast surgeon always had me take my mammos and mri based on my menstrual cycle. I think it was a good idea because I had fibrocystic breasts that would get very lumpy as I got closer to my cycle. It was probably easier to see issues when my breasts weren't so active. If you take these tests during your active stage, it doesn't mean anything negative, it's just that you might have busier images. A trained professional will be able to decipher between fluid cysts and solid.

I have taken xanax during these waiting periods and it really does help take the edge of so I could rest.

Thanks, Roadrash. I wish I had taken a Xanex last night. Didn't sleep much. There was language in my MRI results that indicated it was in a node and I called to ask the doctor about it and they never returned the call.
