Mom diagnosed with Stage II IDC

Hi all,

My mom was diagnosed about 2 months ago... and is already about to start her 3rd round of chemo next week. We have had many ups and downs throughout this process. It still seems weird that she is going through this. Due to her chemotherapy, she has lost all of her hair. She seems to be struggling with finding a wig that suits her. I have been trying to stay positive for her and encouraging her in any way possible. She seems to be going through chemotherapy well, but gets some side effects: headaches, lethargy, loss of appetite, some nausea. She seems to be doing good overall, but I sometimes feel like she doesn't communicate her true feelings to me.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there in a similar situation that can give me insight in how they have been dealing with this. I find myself depressed some days, and okay other days. I find it difficult to know how to feel or go about these emotions because this is obviously something our family has not struggled with.

If anyone wants to chat, please feel free. I feel like I need to find some friends out there going through the same thing. It's hard sharing my feelings to friends that don't quite understand.

:)

Nik

    Joh07369-

First, we want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're so sorry for what brings you here, but we're so very glad you've found us, and hope you find this to be a place of support.

It's good that your mom is handling her treatment well, and that you've come here to reach out for support for yourself. Being a caretaker and helping someone through this battle is difficult, and the feelings you've described are totally normal. It's important to find peers who know what you're all going through, and we have many members who can relate and offer their advice and encouragement.

Please keep posting and sharing here, we'll be thinking of you!
