Bad node news at mammo

So I am trying not to freak out. My mammo was a birads 3 due to a node. Part of me says...eh...nodes like to swell and of course the other part is concerned it is cancer. Going back to onc in 8 weeks.

This is really the first time I have had to deal with iffy mammo results except for my jackpot first mammo. There is no sign of a primary so if this was cancer how would it be staged?

Have you had similar experiences?

When I had a scalp infection it moved into my nodes and for one night I feared the worst.

Maybe you should got to the onco earlier? Or to your PCP? It might clarify what the problem is.

I was actually supposed to see the onc after the mammo but due to the blizzard they flipped the appointments. I did go back and see his nurse who I trust. Basically she said nodes can swell for lots of reasons especially on someone like me who has lymphedema. The official recommendation is redo mammo in 6 months, but my onc will examine in 8 weeks and do ultrasound if still swollen.

Ironically if I get a zit on the other side those nodes swell and I have a node in my neck that swells too. I have been having an asthma flare up so that could be the cause. Sigh. I don't want to have an biopsy if I can avoid

Cookiegal, soooo sorry for the node alarm. I can just feel that gut-panic you must be going through. Prayers for only a great outcome on this--and the sooner the better.

Gentle hugs, and how about some chocolate?

what scares me is that if it is cancer...I think the staging would be serious.

I did have a very nice brownie last night...washed down with a beer.

Basically I have to just keep functioning on a high level.

I noticed on active topics there are a lot of swollen nodes out there.

If it were larger they would probably be more aggressive
