Need for increased oxygen for those with copd after lumpectomy

I am scheduled for lumpectomy next week. I have moderate COPD but have only needed oxygen to sleep until now but surgeon said I will almost certainly need oxygen 24/7 for a time after surgery. Has any with copd had a lumpectomy-and what was your experience with need for additional oxygen? Did anyone without copd need oxygen after lumpectomy?
