Where do I even start?

i had my syrgery consult today an d was told that I need a complete masectomy on the right side. She booked a surgury date of Feb 2nd where a plastic surgeon would be available for immediate reconstruction. She said I needed to go to the website and decide what i want. Holy, info overload.

It seems that I can decide between:

Tram

Latissimus Dorsal Flap

Tissue Expander

My first thoughts are to go with the tissue expander/implants as it seems less aggressive. I would love opinions from others who have gone through this.

Also i was asked if I wanted a double masectomy just in case. Any thoughts on risk reduction?

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but surely you need to meet your plastic surgeon before surgery to discuss these possibilities with him - and also to know if you approve of the person - both his experience in the field so far and his bedside manner.

There are physical considerations when choosing reconstruction that the breast surgeon will know a lot more about (hopefully) than anyone here who does not know your entire diagnosis and general health situation.

Maybe a second opinion would help you decide?
