Saw Palmetto

Options

I went to Vitamin World to get my normal multivitamin which is Ultra Woman Iron-Free. They were out of it, so I picked up the Ultra Man men's version as a quick glance at the contents indicated they have pretty much the same ingredients. However when I looked more closely I saw that the Men's has Saw Palmetto. Is this a problem for breast cancer survivors? I had surgery 4 1/2 years ago and I have one year left of tamoxifen. Not sure if this is going to cause an unhealthy boost in estrogen or anything like that. I had a full hysterectomy if that matters.

surfette, I'm not sure, but I don't think I'd take it. As you probably know, Saw Palmetto is a supplement that's recommended to protect against prostate cancer, so clearly has some effect on or interaction with male hormones. I've never seen it suggested for women for any purpose. I would return the product, get a refund, and find what you wanted elsewhere. JMO.
