ACA (Obamacare) *Maybe* Ended for Many This June

I've noticed in discussions with other cancer patients that some aren't aware of the current new challenge put before the Supreme Court regarding the ACA and states which did not expand Medicaid nor set up online state exchanges.

The gist of it:

The court will be deciding if the people who live in states that did not participate should have access to ACA plans and subsidies.

What it means:

If you live in a state that did not participate in the ACA (Obamacare) and got your insurance through the Federal exchange (healthcare.gov) you may not have access to this insurance (re: be able to afford it any longer) pending a decision by the court in late June or early July.

Justice Robert's swung the decision last time but there is no indication he will do so again. The court seemed in awful big hurry to take this on circumventing some normal practices.

Suggestion, if you are using an ACA plan to cover your cancer treatments plan ahead now, just in case, if you can. I am.

in another thread regarding this topic I realized that I neglected to flesh out one other important point, if SCOTUS rules against the ACA it will, in relatively short order, affect states that did expand.

The ACA is a federal program, it is federally budgeted and federally funded.

If the multiple millions of participants in states that did not create an online portal/exchangeare cut out of the ACA it will decrease the size of the pool drastically and essentially kick the legs out from under the program.

This will effectively "defund" the ACA and it will not be able to continue on, for anyone. Make no mistake this is the intent of those bringing the lawsuits up all the way to SCOTUS.

Further I am sick and tired of paying for everyone else's health care while getting kicked in the head for trying to be responsible and paying through the teeth for my private health insurance 100% out of pocket all those years. Now after all those years of paying taxes, paying for my insurance I really need it and some very wealthy and powerful people are trying to take it away. Millions, if not billions, of tax payer dollars (including mine) are being used to pay LAWYERs to take away insurance from not only fellow cancer patients but millions of other families, people, fellow good citizens.

Either we are in this together or we each should be on our own.

I am not going to do it any longer.

    Sincerely,

    A Bad Cancer Patient
