Implants..dental procedures and prophylatic antibiotics

Wondering who takes prophylactic antibiotics for dental cleanings? what about other dental procedures?

I haven't seen my PS in 5 years (my choice as it seemed like a waste of time since I see my oncologist on a regular basis). I remember my PS telling me to take prophylatic antibiotics before dental procedures. I've been on and off about doing it. At my last dental appointment the other week, my dentist said she doesn't think I should take them because of over Rx of antibiotics..... She said the implants are not "bone" (like a hip etc). Ironic cuz a couple years ago, she was the one who wrote the Rx for the antibiotics.

So just wondering what people are doing...what your PS has suggested to you...more for future reference as its too late for this past appt. TIA

My PS is actually a dentist. (Everyone in the family is a dentist... after trying it he decided to go back to school and become a PS) He says no need for dental work.
