Mammograms/every 6mo. or every year for first 3 years?

Options

Hi Ladies. I was diagnosed oct.2013. I had my annual mammagram sept.2014. My MO recommends only annual mam. I have read on the boards most of you get mam every 6 months for the first three years after initial diagnosis. Should I be concerned. I think I should have them done every 6 months for the first three years. I have had ongoing issues with seromas/post radiation difficulties awful pain in breast still 8 months after lumpetomy. Should I insist on mammograms every 6 months?

HI there, My Gyno and my Oncologist recommend every 6 months on BC side and every year for both. So essentially I have a Mammo on my BC side and then the next one six months later is bi-lateral. Switching on and off like this for 3 years then on to annual.  I also have dense breast tissue so have a MRI every other year.

My breast surgeon (who heads the team) says mammograms on the cancer side every 6 months for 2 years (with the "good" side being done annually), then if nothing is found, go back to annually on both sides. I actually need to call and schedule mine for next week, after which if nothing is amiss, I will not be having another one for a year as I have recently hit the 2 year mark.

My medical oncologist and radiation oncologist both recommend a mammogram (I get the 3D type) once a year; but I have visits and exams with both of them every 6 months for the first three years. Then it will be annual checkups with the radiation oncologist but continue every 6 months with the medical oncologist. I'm sure if there are any symptoms or concerns that additional testing can be done.
