35, total hysterectomy yesterday...What to expect now?

Options

Hi all,

I am new to this board because I must admit I have not been brave enough until now to join. When I was diagnosed, I just didn't want to know. Now, I have made it through chemo, radiation, bilateral mastectomy, and, as of yesterday, a hysterectomy (ovaries and uterus).

The problem is now that it is all done, I am afraid of what is lurking ahead as far as side effects. My doctor mentioned starting a AI, but I know there are lot of side effects. I was stage IIIA at 34 (1 lymph node, 6 cm. tumor, triple positive). I have four small children and a loving husband and wanted to MAXIMIZE my chance of living to see them graduate. So, I feel like I have done that, but as my husband and I were talking last night...he mentioned "quality of life".

From here on do I have no libido, lack of motivation, losing hair, joint pain, fear of the meds causing other diseases...I am an avid exerciser and eat very healthy, but that hasn't gotten me too far in the past:). I am sure it is going to a drastic hormone drop and I am fearful of that this will mean.

Has anyone gotten a hysterectomy and taken AI when they were under 35. How was your quality of life following....

Thanks to anyone who is able to provide guidance or info,

Ashley
