Can surgery suppress your period?

I'm 52. Still have monthly periods but can be+\- a couple days, no other signs of menopause. Had BMX 10/27. I am NOT on chemo/rads/tomoxifen...
I haven't had a period since surgery (missed 2 so far). I know I'm at that age...but this seems pretty abrupt.
Anyone ever experience postponed periods because of surgery? Or maybe it's just my time. (Which would be fine with me).
