Hi ladies I need your help. I finished my radiation in July. I had 25 treatments. I did not experience that many side effects. My breast did swell warm . some skin problems on radiated breast but got better and better. And then in October my radiated breast became warm and red. It had fever in it. It hurts. I have had seroma drained. I have been on several antibiotics but not responding. The doctors don't think it is an infection or abscess. They now just say it must be leftover effects from radiation. But my breastvwas getting better. Have you ladies experienced this 6 no after treatment.

My skin was- and continues to remain more reactive on the radiation side. By that, I mean that the radiated side will react to something that it never did before, i.e., my usual brand of soap, or it will react to something new, that the non-radiated side doesn't react to. The skin on the radiated side marks more easily than the skin on the non-radiated side. It, also, burns more easily and is more sensitive to temperature changes.

It is possible that this is what is happening to you, so I would suggest eliminating things to see if you can determine if there is an external source for the irritation. Your soap, your laundry detergent, your fragrance, the fabrics you wear next to your skin. If an external source cannot be identified, then - perhaps - another opinion from a different RO may help give you some answers.
