WBC Counts High

Had blood work done two weeks ago.. was in the normal range for wbc.. started my chemo today...they did the blood work prior and told me the wbc came back in the high range...I don't remember the number, don't think I have an infection as I feel fine... but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I know I have been stressed the last two weeks about choosing the chemo regimen, just having to go through this... How do the counts go up that quickly?? I started the steroids yesterday, but don't think that could increase the wbc's to go from the upper normal range to high that quickly or could it..?? Doctor was not around to talk to today, he was out of the office. I guess if they thought it was a real problem they would not have given me any chemo?? Any info greatly appreciated. Having to worry about this now is not what I want to do. Have to go for the Neulasta shot tomorrow..don't know if that makes a difference if it was in the high range today??

Steroids can make the WBC numbers go sky high. When mine came back super high I asked about it and they said it was probably the steroids. I asked how they'd know if they were really low if the steroids inflate them like that and they had no answer. After that, I came in for blood work the day befoer I started the steroids.
