I had a single brain met 4 years ago and had craniotomy and cyberknife rads. It came back in the same location a year later and I had another Craniotomy which removed more of the tumor bed and had a higher dose of Cyberknife rads. I have been on Herceptin for over 5 years and have SE's (nausea, dizziness, low counts)which is rare. I couldn't tolerate Tykerb. Now my docis wondering why I am still on Herceptin since it doesn't cross the BBB. Anyone else on Herceptin only? I am now 3 years NED!

I have a very similar situation but this all just happened to me. A 3 cm tumor was found on my cerebellum in April of this year. I had a craniotomy followed by Cyberknife. My original tumor was triple positive but the brain tumor is Her2 positive only. I just started Herceptin last month and have no idea how long I'm going to be on it. My onc described it as being more proactive instead of reactive.

Scans are this Wednesday so we'll see if everything is still OK. Your story gives me hope, though. I know that was not your intention when posting, but it is great news for you!

Much has changed from my post in 2014. I stopped Herceptin upon my new MD's advice in April 2015 and am now 6 years brain met free. I still have MRI's every 6 months. I know my story is not the same as everybody, but I certainly have more confidence now than ever that I will be able to live a long life. So much love to you all!

amazing inspiration! I will be NED two years in5-6 months. Had craniotomy 8 weeks ago and am having more radiation next week. Hope it does the trick. Body remains clear, 6 month scan interval for body and 3 month brain mri... hope to put this behind me in 2018! Staying positive and healthy is key
