Lumpectomy Reconstruction Question

Hi - I have posted that BC/BS is denying FG reconstruction and it is still in the works as far as my employer trying to get something approved but I have serious doubts that will happen, especially with the FG - they also are denying based on the fact that I did not have mastectomy done - ONLY lumpectomy (really). What I don't want to do is have a reduction on the right breast as I am barely a B cup now and don't want to go smaller but the affected breast is now at least half the size of my normal breast and malformed.

I meet with another PS at Lahey on December 1st.

Can others who have had reconstruction after lumpectomy(ies) tell me what they did for reconstruction and how it went, recovery, insurance, ANYTHING you can share. I truly believed the easiest option for me was going to be FG but it doesn't look like that is going to fly........unless I pay for it myself.

Also, the page on Paying for Reconstruction Procedures has some great advice on getting reconstruction covered by your insurance, including disputing a denied claim.

Hi Moderators and THANK YOU very much.

I learned quite a bit about the prosthesis option (wish I had understood this before bathing suit season) - my surgeon did write a prescription for me so I can do that until I can figure out how to move forward. The wording on how a PS office submits pre-approval was very helpful as well and will help me with my Dec 1 appointment with the new PS referral from my surgeon.

I would still love to hear from anyone who had lumpectomy(ies) that did reconstruction - what was done, etc.
