Hello my friends! Thought I would check in and say hi!
Luanne....happy for you and the new grand baby!
Rettemich....my twins turned 21 in October...and now both have boyfriends, so that's a new adjustment...for me! They are busy with the boys, school and work, so mama gives them the rule to at least text once a day! Lol...I do love this age and glad they are independent...for the most part...except when rent is due!
Sunshine...so good to hear from you...hope life is happy...new babies help...a lot!!
I have been feeling good...been forgetting I even had the battle with cancer...I do find myself thinking about the next five years and where I will be...feel the need to plan for things and get stuff in order...clear out crap and simplify. Making a bucket list too...heading to California over spring break to see friends and celebrate our 30 th anniversary with a mini pacific hwy cruise...only a 5 day trip but super excited...something I never would have done before bc...not a traveler but I am branching out!!
Well ladies...nice to hear from all of you and hope life is good! Peace to you all...Rosie

Hi ladies! Not much activity on here but checking in. I have a post surgery (10 months)/post rad tx (6 mo) doctor appmt tomorrow. Everything seems normal and going fine. Next is mamm in May. Life is busy. A new grandbaby due in September
Work is super busy and all I can say is "politics"!! Filing season at our local city begins in May. Change may be j the air. Well Happy Spring! Summer will be here before we know it!

Well thought I would check in too. the new BP meds seem to be doing the trick. My BP is much much better. I had another surgery about 2 weeks ago. For a bunion. LOL something I was going to do before all hell broke loose. Bad thing, I'm in a cast, LOL, never had a cast before. Good thing it has helped me take my mind off the rest of the junk. My podiatrist told me I was lucky as it was my left foot, and that I could still drive. Until I told him both of our cars are standard transmissions.Ugh. Hubby is having a field day he gets to drive the Jeep everyday now. I told him he better not "man" it up to much and NO camo!! Oh I miss getting around.
I think summer has already hit. It's supposed to be in the 90's today. So not ready for the heat.
mripp, Good luck with your appointments. I know everything will be fine.
Rosie, Oh that sounds soooooo good. I'm originally from SF Bay area so I really miss the coastal and the mountains. I'm jealous! LOL Enjoy your trip.
Louanne, I hope you have been able to resolve your meds issue. I can surly relate. If not or just want to talk PM me.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I can't believe it's been over a year since all this started. I hope more of our sisters chime in would love to see how everyone is doing.

Hey ladies!!!! Just wanted to say hello. Life is trudging along.
I just realized it was exactly one year ago today that I had my surgery!!
Life just goes by so quickly. I'm so thankful for our rads group! You all pulled me through some rough days!

Hi Laura, I thought of you on the 14th. I can't believe it has been one year already! Having my 1 year doc visits brought back alot of the scary things going through my mind last year. Time moves on....How are you? Still taking classes? How are the little ones?
Happy 1 year Cancerversary to all my April 2014 sisters! Hope all is well!!
-
Rosie, the grandbaby is 3 months old already! Hope you had a wonderful time on your trip!
Hi Mari, good luck with your appointments. I go Monday for mammogram, ultra sound, and bone density. A lot for one day! Just want to get it over with! I hear ya on the politics!
Rette, glad to hear about your BP! Sorry about your foot! :-( The medication was a mix up. Can't talk about it online. Lets just say I'm waiting and watching. Very, very stressful high anxiety for sure. A drug not approved for women. Felt like I was struggling with PTSD for a few days. I'm kind of trying to get it out of my mind for now.
Laura, so glad to hear from you. My surgery anniversary was April 3.
Ohiofan Happy one year cancerversary.
Have a wonderful spring/summer all you great ladies!
-
Thanks, Louanne. Aren't grandbabies the greatest!!! Mine is now a toddler and so much fun! Will have my fingers crossed for great results on Monday!Rette, I am getting a bunion and not happy about it, The doc said they are inherited.....I'm not sure about that. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Casts in warm weather are not fun.
Rosie, hope you enjoyed your Cali visit! Love SF and Napa Valley.
Take care!!

Thanks Ohiofan! Yes, grandbabies are the best for sure! I have a 3 year old granddaughter. The 3 month old is a boy. Have a great weekend!

Hi friends! Good to hear from " the old gang"...sorry about how we all met, but happy we were here for each other! Our Cali trip was awesome...mainly seeing our old friend and driving on the PCH was the reason for going as well as just doing something exciting and different! Nice to have seen the west coast sunsets...our sunsets on the coast of NC are also wonderful, but I enjoyed the west coast too!
I don't think about cancer much and just live each day...appreciating the fact that I am still able to walk, work and enjoy my family and friends. Life has certainly changed but it's just richer now! I have to say I love my new curly hairdo! Short and curly...keeping it that way for the summer! I will keep in touch with my summer rads sistas!
Cruising in Cali ...Pacific coast highway...caught this classic shot....surfer walking on the road....all the best to everyone! Rosie

Hi everyone...it has been a long time since I've checked in here. Most days I have returned to my old life. Today is different...it's my 1 year anniversary. One year ago today was my surgery. So today I reflected and remembered all the wonderful ladies that helped me along my journey. Thank you all. I hope you are all well. I don't know what I would have done without you.
-
Hey everyone, sorry haven't posted for a while. Bunion surgery went well, was in a cast for 5 week. Only because they had to fuse
one of the bones. Now I just have to wear tennies all the time. Which is hard to do when it's 110 outside. LOL Not suppose to go bare foot but I cheat at home.
Anyone still have any residual issues? My boob still gets pains and feels "weird" sometimes. Like it isn't a part of me. I know it's from the radiation and not the reduction surgery, as the other side feels fine. My nipple is still turning black, dead skin. I wish this would stop.
My year mammo was good said I was good for another year.
-
hi friends! Been a while since I have checked in! I had been so busy with the hustle and bustle of teaching and then it just STOPPED!! Had to adjust to not having something going on every second!! I have tried to stay really busy so I don't think about my cancer and if/ when it will come back...I sometimes get in a funk as I see my kids and feel the need to teach them everything they need to know in life!! My 21 year old twins have moved back home after 2 1/2 years on their own, so that has really kept me busy...it's nice having them around, when they are here! This is just a transition period, so I want to enjoy the times we get to spend together! Hope all is well and have a great summer! Rosie
-
Hi all! It's been awhile since I've checked in too! Life is pretty much back to normal with family, work, vacation (really spending more time on this!!) Had my 1 year come and go and clean mamm too. Elated!!! My only follow up is 6 mo. doc check ups. All starting to be a blur. Guess that's good. Well have a great summer and keep on keeping on!!
-
so happy to hear those of you moving on...this summer has been filled with follow ups and talking to gyno about needing a total hysterectomy...waiting on biopsy of uterine tissue...been on tamoxifen since September....I think whenever there is a dr. Visit, I get in a funk again...been really good at not thinking about cancer but I do have bouts when I feel like my life is on a timer...don't like to not be doing something...need to stay busy to keep negative thoughts away....I will check in again! Peace and good health to y'all
-
Rosie, nice that your twins have moved back even if it's just for a little while. My dd moved out last year and I really miss her. Now her and her beau are planning on getting married this Dec. Oh boy, love him but they are just SO young. I desperately need to lose some weight. Haven't been able to go to gym do to bunion surgery. Foot's doing really good though. Still a little swollen, expected, but does swell more if I'm on it a lot. So no treadmills yet. Sorry to hear about your hysterectomy.
Went off the Aromasin, just couldn't deal with the side effects. Waiting to see what my MO is going to recommend now. Wondering if she will recommend ovaries be removed.
So glad to hear so many have gotten past and are moving on with life.

Rettemich ....hey! Well, this school year has begun and I am busy busy busy! Had my onco appointment yesterday and he asked about my decision for hysterectomy....if I stay on tamoxifen then I am committed to having that surgery due to it's effect on the uterus ...so he suggested I try Arimidex. Hate to change meds when tamoxifen has been ok for me, but want to try this to see if it would be ok and then maybe I won't need surgery. Then my normal progression of menopause will reverse changes in my uterus...large fibroid may shrink, etc. I am getting ready to research Arimidex....once again!! Hope life is good and you remain healthy! Rosie
