I am done with two treatments for my chemotherapy and was wondering if it was OK to get a pedicure.  Otherwise  will do it myself.

Does anyone out there know.

Thanks.

Hi:  not knowing what chemo you are on or how many more you have to go is problematic but I will tell you I was on Taxotere and didn't get manis or pedis and to this day (6 years ago) still do them to the best of my ability - I have a dear friend who is a Drs. wife and she maintains that if you have a lowered immune system the worst thing you can do is have any of these treatments - my own MO from six years ago echoed her sentiments - as luck would have it I ended up with a bacterial infection in both my "big toes" and had some problems with my fingernails as well so glad that I didn't aggravate the problems.  There are threads on this site regarding nail problems - I encourage you to go there and read up on things to do - not everyone gets se's from their chemo but better to be safe than sorry.  Hope this helps.

I am on 4 treatments of of Taxotere and Cytoxin and then 6 weeks of radiation.  I guess I will wait until my immune system is better and that will be awhile.

    Thanks.

But you could go in and get a foot massage & have them paint your toenails. From word of mouth, I have found that the toenail and fingernails of ladies who keep them polished during chemo do better than the nails of those who do not.
