my mom just got diagnosed with breast cancer. Im unclear as to what stage she is at and how long she has left.  The doctors really havent been saying much but im hoping its because they want to get test results and be clear on everything. It has already spread to her bone, her spine and her leg and possibly her arm.  Realisticly whats her most likely scenario? Or is everyone just different?  Please keep my mom in your prayers. She is only 62. She is still in the hospital after being diagnosed, they do not want her to walk as they fear she might break or fracture a bone.

If they know it has spread to her bones, then she is now at stage iv, also known as metastatic. Try not to jump to any conclusions and please stay away from google until you have some facts and test results from the doctors. Remember that no one has an expiry date stamped on them and everyone is different. This is going to be a scary time, but once your mom gets started on a treatment program, there's every chance that she will improve. There are stories of women living 10 or 20 years with bone mets. There's no reason that couldn't be your mom's story too.

The stage iv forum here has a thread for questions, and there is a good caregivers forum too. You might want to check in there once you have more information.

    Hang in there.
