Pregnant with BC - IDC

Hi

I was diagnosed with BC at 22 weeks pregnant. I had a mastectomy and all nodes removed. I've started chemo and baby is doing well. Physically I'm okay apart from being extremely tired from both the chemo and now in last trimester (approaching 30wks). I'll probably have a c-section around Christmas so I can get on with Tax chemo soon after.

Being pregnant with BC is a scary and lonely place so I thought I'd start a new thread in case anyone is in a similar position. I've heard lots of success stories where both mum and baby are doing well so this gives my husband and I hope.

Hi Pixie,

I was diagnosed at 18 weeks pregnant too so I know what you're going through. I remember how tired I was too, go easy on yourself and get out for walks when you can. I did my third AC chemo at 35 weeks and then my daughter was born at 39 weeks. She'll be turning 2 in January and she's doing great. Have you checked out the Hope For Two website? I found the stories on there to be very encouraging.

hi pixie! I was diagnosed around 19 weeks. I am now almost 36 weeks pregnant and gearing up for induction on Monday !!! 

I had a lumpectomy and axillary node dissection at 23 weeks and have had 4 rounds AC as well. I will start taxol after delivery, than having double mastectomy February.

Every time I had to get chemo (every three weeks) I'd have a severe anxiety attack and worry the web time about if I felt enough movement . But all of my growth scans and stress test have been normal .I will post a pic of my healthy baby boy soon xoxox to give you some reassurance.

I also have recently met up with some ladies via Ysc (young survivors coalition) through meet up .com. I felt it was helpful you could see if there is a chapter in your area. They are all under 40 either going through treatment or have finished ,not necessarily pregnancy during but most have young children

Thank you it's for your reply. I'm so sorry it's taken me a while to respond. I didn't know how to navigate the site properly and just stumbled across the replies you lovely ladies left me recently.

NurseShark, oh wow you will be having your baby tomorrow?? That is wonderfull. Please do let me know how it all goes. I am so excited for you!

Mariene, what great news to hear you have come our of this the other end and your little one is almost 2! That's wonderfull.

What I would be interested to hear about is how did you manage the anxiety of knowing if there has been a spread? This is my fear and a full CT scan cannot be done until it'll after our baby is born on 23rd Dec by c-section. They have done a partial scan of my chest, lungs and throat area and these we're clear.... However every single ache and pain is scaring me so much. I'm struggling to know what is pregnancy related and what is chemo / cancer/ post surgery related.

I'm starting cycle 2 on FEC on Tuesday and get to see baby again on ultrasound. We almost see our little. Oh weekly / fortnightly which is the best part of all this. Seeing him unaffected is amazing but I deep down I just want to know that I'll be around to see him grow.

Born November 14 2014 @2am 5lbs 12oz 18 inches!! Started induction on a Monday delivered on Friday.... took forever to go into labor but once I did it was quick. Finally started getting regular contractions thurs afternoon around 4pm water broke at 730p.... started pitocin ended up taking pain meds x2 (fentanyl than stadol) towards end.. delivered vaginally @2am .home getting settled baby is healthy almost back up to birth weight by 4days old!!! Very good eater... feeding formula with some donor breast milk from family member.

Starting . Taxol every2 weeks on 12/5 .not looking forward to leaving nugget for the day but mother in law will be in town to babysit thankfully.

managing anxiety is the hardest part of being pregnant and going through this. I prayed a lot..meditated ..and made sure I talked about my fears often to my husband ...realizing it's out of your hands until pregnancy over and tests can be done safely is something I had to come to terms with daily. Every morning I'd wake up with knot in stomach and have to talk my self through the worry ....repeat next day. Lean on friends for distractions..you're in my thought s and you will get through it!!

nurseshark your baby is adorable. Congratulations. You ladies going through Chemo and pregnancy at the same time are just amazing.
