Hole at masctectomy incision site

I had a spot that had been draining along my incision. When my PS removed my stitched at 3 weeks, he removed dead fat cells that left a hole about 1/2 in deep and the size of a nickel. He said it would have to be packed twice a day so it could heal from the inside out. Thank goodness my husband can do it, because just talking about makes me want to pass out. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how long does it take to heal?

I have the same thing going on under my flap (I had an sGAP flap). I will be two weeks out tomorrow. Last night my hubby wondered the same thing. It has not changed in 2 weeks! I see my Dr. Tomorrow and will ask but I would love to hear from others as well. You are not alone.

I had that problem. In fact I had purse string incisions and my right one (cancer side) did not heal at all and I had to heal the whole thing open. It was a large area but it took about six weeks to fill in all the way but it healed beautifully. My left one had two small spots that also healed open with no problem. Don't worry.
