Soon to be a "Newbie..."

Hi Everyone!

I am having a BMX on 04 Nov 14 and I am thrilled to find you Ladies!!! I personally feel that I do not need my breasts to "be a woman" despite what everyone else (friends & extended family) are saying! Anyone want to share their story?? I would love to listen!

So sorry you have to join us but you seem to be facing your surgery with a positive attitude:-)  I had a BMX a and do not regret it. I also had chemo, will you be having chemo and/or rads. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers on Nov 4th, I hope your surgery goes well (((hugs))) Maureen

    Hi Maureen1!

Not being ugly...but I hate that I am joining you too!! ROFBMTO!!! Thank You for your Thoughts and Prayers! I will take them as I am still terrified of all this!

I do not know if I will get chemo or rads yet....I guess that will come after my surgery next week to see what pathology says on it. I am currently, and Pray that I still will be, Non-Invasive when we do this. That my BMX will go smoothly and easily...and that my follow ups are good and CLEAN!

Question? With no reconstruction...how will they be able to check me later?

I had UMX so still have mammograms on the remaining one, but they don't do anything to check the flat side.  No need, I guess.  Have heard from some that had lumps appear in the area that they will remove & biopsy them just in case, but it usually turns out to be scar tissue or fat necrosis or something like that.

Yes, keeping my fingers crossed that all goes just as you hope on Tuesday - let us know how you're doing:) I had reconstruction with my BMX but my BS said if it comes back it will likely be in the axilla, or near the chest wall or skin so my MO checks my axilla, chest/rib area, neck, and around the implants for lumps every 3 months and she recommends that I do my own lump checks just like I did before BC. She also does a chest xray every 6 months to watch for changes...
