seems to be a lot of conflicting literature. Thinking of risk reducing surgery but is it really needed ?

I don't think there is one right or wrong answer to your question.  The right answer for you depends on how you personally feel about the risks and benefits.      Have you seen the "FORCE" web site ---good,  current information and other women facing the same decisions.  There are also many local FORCE chapters across the U.S. (outside the country).

Definitely check out the FORCE website mentioned above.  Being BRCA + myself, these are my thoughts.  (Though I realize hindsite has 20/20 vision).  I wish I had known I was + BEFORE cancer.  As hard as these surgeries are, it is much harder always wondering if and when your cancer will return.  Preventative measures takes away much of this worry.  I would not wish cancer on my worst enemy, and would do anything to go back and prevent it now.  Risks are different for 1+ and 2+, so do your research.  Age recommendation for certain procedures may help you as well.  So sorry you are finding yourself making these difficult decisions.  Hugs as you navigate the information and find the best path for yourself.
