Waiting for more info

This isn't for me, but my mum got told yesterday that her biopsy results showed she had breast cancer, she has had a scan and waiting for the results now, they told her she would receive a phone call tomorrow, but i have such a bad feeling:( what will happen now? Treatment and everything? My mum seems very calm about it!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mothers diagnosis.  Her treatment will vary depending on the pathology report and what the scan shows.  Nobody can tell you what she'll need except for her doctor, because it's all based on the pathology findings.  Can you go with her to her appointment?  I only retained about 20% of the information given to me at my first few appointments and it was so helpful to have someone there to write down the information and to ask questions.  I wish your mother the best.

Hi sib2014, I just got a phone call like your mum did. I have a 16 year old daughter (i'm not sure how old you are) and she would also say that I am very calm about this whole thing and I am most of the time, but i'm scared some of the time too. Yes, your mum will have treatment, and that treatment will depend upon the type of breast cancer, size, how long she had it etc. Waiting to find everything out is very stressful. My daughter was able to talk to a teacher at her school that she likes. He had cancer when he was 40 and he is 47 now (the same age as me). It helped her a lot. Sending you and your mum best wishes.
