Done with AC, starting T

Options

My wife had her last AC (Adriam-Cycin- Cytoxen) treatment with the Neulasta shot last week.  She will soon begin the T (taxol) phase of her treatments.  I was wondering what we could expect going forward.  I've heard the Taxol phase is a little better than the AC, but I wanted to get some opinions.

AC was pretty rough on her.

We are all so different - there is no way to know before hand what anyone will experiene .

For me,, A/C was not bad at all - didn't slow me down at all.  Taxol was nasty!  Complete and utter exhaustion - basically either in bed or on couch in front of TV.

There is no way of predicting what will be experienced.  It does seem that those who have problems/issues with A/C will have an easier time with Taxol.  Those who have an 'easier' time with A/C, Taxol will be worse (as in my case), but those who have harder time on A/C will have an easier time on Taxol.  The differences between the time of infusions can also have an effect.

KGB-Yes, for sure everyone seems to experience things differently. In my case, the side effects were different between the AC and the Taxol. Mouth sores and headache with AC. Pain (they say bone pain...I struggled to explain it) and neuropathy in my hands and feet with the Taxol. The accumulation of fatigue was also an issue for me. My advice would be to stay in close contact with your wife's team to seek help with any concerns...don't wait...they have some good suggestions to help manage the side effects. As I write this and think about the four months of chemo treatment, I can't believe I did it! It is manageable. I kept reminding myself to take one day at at time and be kind to myself.  Best wishes to your wife and to you as her number one caregiver. I couldn't have done it without my hubby.
