Charlie horses in legs and abdomen, anyone know a solution and why these occur.  I get them repetitively. I take magnesium pills and drink a gallon of water a day and I'm filling up on potassium.  Help!!

I had some serious muscle pain throughout and following chemo (I'm about 3 months PFC now), and along with that, the charlie horses in my calf muscles. I thought I'd never walk normally again. And then I started Glutamine supplements - 1000mg, 4 times per day. And after two weeks, no more charlie horses! My muscle pain is nearly gone as well. I mean, I can't be doing squats or anything yet, but I'm getting there. :)

Might be worth a try for you.

Oh the joys of chemo.  L Glutamine (do not add to hot, as that will 'kill' it)  Tell your doctor if taking magnesium and or potassium, as these are things they test our blood for, so your electrolyte numbers may not reflect what is truly occurring.  Not saying to stop taking it, just let your MO know.   As you don't have a signature, I don't know when you started, but it gets worse as it goes on.  L-Glutamine may be helping me, I'm not sure, but I'm taking it.
