I lost my job on Friday because my time would be hindered because of cancer and treatments.  I can hardly believe it.  I read here just to tell your employer that I might be a little slow but will bounce back.  From that moment on it was "how can we get rid of her".  Amazing.  It is not going to really hurt me but was amazed how unsympathetic the bank was and how poorly they went about it.

The bank is TD Bank. I am a contractor through Robert Half so I think they can.

Legally I agree with Joyce, I don't think they can do that .  I would get some legal advice on how best to move forward. you may or may not want your job back, but they do need to comply with any laws

Unless your inability to do the job is clearly documented, and you have used up your vacation time, sick time, and medical/family leave time, I don't think they can do that either.  Check out the Job Accomodation Network (www.askjan.org) for ideas, and yes, a lawyer.

Isn't cancer considered a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act?
