Malignat Pleural Effustions

I was first diagnosed with malignant pleural effusion in July 2013.  It was removed by thorosentisis and did not recur until July 2014 and it was removed a second time.  It has now returned and I will have it removed for the 3rd time  in a couple weeks.  I was told and saw online that it has a prognosis of 3 to 6 months.  I've lived past that prognosis, but I am very afraid because it has recurred faster than before.  Has anyone experienced a malignant pleural effusion?  I need hope that this is not a death sentence.
