how many hours a day do i wear sleeve/glove ???
I just got my sleeve and glove today and was given no instructions on how many hours a day I am supposed to wear it. They put it on me today approx 11am this morning and by approx 8 tonight I had to take it off. I felt like it was cutting off my circulation. Is this normal ?

opps I think I might have posted this in the wrong area sorry
I should have posted under all things sleeves.

daisy - I was told to start mine only wearing a couple of hours, and build up the time as I got used to wearing it - nine hours straight the first day may be a bit much.

We are all so unique thus there is no one answer for all. Your LET should have given you input/information.
Personally,,I,wear my day garments all the time I am 'up'. My night sleeve and opera length IsoToner under it at night. I do an hour with my FlexiTouch daily.
Keep in mind if 'something' is 'cutting in', you may need custom garments. Not all of us are built to wear the standard/off the shelf sizes. In the compression level I need, they do not make sleeves to fit me correctly. Hands are even worse for fit unless custom . Never realized it til I needed gloves but my hands are weird. They are 'webbed' to a degree so 'normal' gloves cut into the webbing causing pain and sores (bad with LE).

Ideally we are supposed to wear it anytime we are not swimming or bathing.
Realistically, I get in 12-16 hours a day.
I do think this is very individual.

I agree with specialK that a breaking-in period is a good idea. You may find that you don't feel it's too tight, if you adjust gradually. But first check back with your fitter/therapist to double check the fit, if you feel it's so tight it's cutting off circulation.

thank you ladies, I made a appointment with my therapist for next week. I wore it to work today and took it off as soon as I got home, did much better today than yesterday.

daisydoo, I find when the garments are new, there will generally be a breaking in period. That said, when you're getting garments for the first time, you don't have older ones to fall back on while youre making that transition, but also new LE is less likely to be advanced. When I started I only needed to wear garments when I was doing physical activities. Since it has progressed I'm supposed to wear them all day. I also find certain conditions can make it feel like your arm is being strangled, like heat, or extra activities and it's then I just ditch it.
Glad your sleeve worked better than the day before.
